Buckle Up for Wider Buckley

Work is slated now through the end of July to widen Buckley Road, from Thread Lane to Buttonwood Way just outside SLO City limits.

The County’s Department of Public Works announced they’ll be improving road safety by “increasing recoverable areas and providing improved access to adjacent business and the informal airport viewing area turnout.”

Ten-minute delays are expected as they reduce the road to one lane in the half-mile segment.

The County describes the area to be improved as an industrial zone immediately south of the regional airport. They plan to install a  center turning lane, realign the existing curve and pave shoulders to provide better bike lanes.

R. Burke Corp. from SLO has been awarded the contract for $534,706 to perform the work. The Company has an office on Capitolio Way, just off Sacramento Drive. The County will fund the work through a grant by the Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program and the County Road Fund.
