City Survey Out Now

The City of Morro Bay is asking residents to share their thoughts on what they believe the community’s visions and values are through a telephone survey.

Morro Bay has hired Code for America to develop CityVoice, a survey in which community members can phone in and share their thoughts.

“The initial version of the survey,” Deputy City Manager Sam Taylor said in a news release, “will be used to gauge Morro Bay residents’ and visitors’ thoughts on the community’s Vision & Values statements. These statements will inform the coming updates to the City’s General Plan and, hopefully, most major decisions moving forward.”

The survey will run now through Oct. 12, maybe longer if the City decides more input is needed. Yard-style signs have been placed around town with different codes on them that survey takers must write down in order to do the survey. Either go to a sign posted near your neighborhood (some are down on the waterfront as well), write down the 3-digit code or see: https://morro-bay-cityvoice.herokuapp.com and find the sign on the map to note the code. Then call (805) 623-4422 to take the survey.

“Utilizing a telephone survey is intended to help bridge the technology gap in a community with an older population that may be less used to engaging on social media or the Internet,” Taylor said, “as well as connecting with those residents who may not have time to attend a community meeting. As of Sept. 24, about 71 percent of the participants were giving the City input for the first time.”
