Higginbotham Withdraws From Supes Race

CN Shelly-HigginbothamPismo Beach Mayor Shelly Higginbotham announced today that she is withdrawing her candidacy for 3rd District Supervisor of San Luis Obispo County in the June 2016 primary.

“After considerable thought, I’ve concluded that my focus needs to be on my family, my current position as Mayor of Pismo Beach and my numerous volunteer efforts with local non-profits,” said Higginbotham in a news release. “I remain deeply committed to seeing a change in the 3rd District and I will continue to be a staunch advocate for issues and organizations that deserve and require a strong voice, like the 5-Cities Homeless Coalition.”

The 3rd District of San Luis Obispo County includes the communities of Grover Beach, Pismo Beach, Shell Beach, Avila Beach, Edna Valley and the southern portion of the City of San Luis Obispo.

Higginbotham serves on many commissions and boards in her role as mayor including President of the League of California Cities – Chanel Counties Division, which covers 25 cities in the San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties. She also volunteers for the 5-Cities Homeless Coalition and is President of the board.
