Cal Poly Making Plans For 2022

Dry planning presentations are no strange things at SLO City Council meetings but some extra ears perked up Jan. 6 for a report on the Cal Poly Master Plan.
Linda Dalton, interim university planning officer, gave a rundown of the school’s timetable for the plan. The university has already held two outreach meetings in town to conduct “stakeholder outreach” but, for those unaware, Cal Poly is engaging in a plan update on much the same scale as SLO’s 2-year long land use element debate.

SLO Transient Arrested for Attempted Rape, Kidnapping

A local transient man sits in County Jail accused of trying to forcibly rape a teenager in Downtown San Luis Obispo.
According to a news release by Lt. John Bledsoe, on Monday, Dec. 29, “a 17-year-old girl visiting San Luis Obispo with her family was shopping in the Downtown area when she became separated and lost her direction.” In the 1200 block of Morro, Lt. Bledsoe said, she reportedly approached a man sitting on a bench, and asked him for directions.

Meet Grover’s Newest Council Members

CN City Council Barbara and MariamWith only one meeting under their belts, rookie councilwomen Barbara Nicolls and Mariam Shah are ready are ready for their next four years at the dais.
Because both women ran unopposed, a trek down the traditional campaign trail wasn’t necessary, which means no raising funds, canvasing neighborhoods, seeking endorsements or participating in candidate forums. All of which makes an election bid a little easier on the candidates, but leaves the public wondering where their newest leaders stand on the issues.
