Ladies and Gentlemen, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) wants you, to tell them what to study before the go ahead and relicense the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant for another 20 years. In our cover story number one for the evening, the SLO City News explores the recent meeting at which both pro and anti-nuclear activists talked at each other for two three-hour sessions while NRC representatives took notes.

On the inside fold, after the table of contents, don’t miss a little announcement on the City of SLO’s final victory over a shamed former police officer’s attempts to sue for reinstatement after four years in court  (page 4).

On to lighter subjects, the local Softec professionals group got together to share “their toys” and let the rest of us know about the wonderful world of crowd funding (details on page 8).

Lest you missed out on some of the other fun goings on around downtown in August, photographer Erin O’Donnell captured the Calif. National Guard’s 40th Infantry division rallying the home front with rousing musical renditions during the Farmer’s Market (page 10).

Last and certainly not least, the Tolosa Press’ own Neil Farrell, Editor of the Bay News, rode along on his first ever helicopter ride to see what PG&E was up to during power line cleaning east of Arroyo Grande. It’s a feature not to be missed (page 45).

All that and more in the upcoming issue of the SLO City News on August 20th!
