“The opportunity to represent Cal Poly to prominent individuals at our state’s Capitol is a unique opportunity to showcase the diversity and hard work of our students, and gives me confidence in the education I have received,” Lewis said. “I feel extremely lucky to represent Cal Poly to lawmakers, and I am excited that the hard work the other students and I have put into our respective contests and projects will be recognized and appreciated.”

Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong took the trip with the students to the Capitol as well, adding that, “We want to honor these representatives of our six colleges for their success in the classroom and for their extracurricular activities that have been honored regionally and nationally.”

If the students want to get the inside skinny on what it’s like to be in those Chambers when visitors aren’t around, Achadjian’s predecessor, former Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee is the project co-director for The Digital Democracy Project, with an office on campus at the Institute for Advanced Technology and Public Policy.  – Camas Frank
