Woman Assaulted Near Poly

Another Cal Poly co-ed has been attacked late at night near the entrance to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, in a case that sounds eerily like several others from a few years ago that were never solved.

Police said that at about 1 a.m. Saturday, April 25, a Cal Poly female student reported SLOPD Sgt. John Villanti said, “The female was walking in the area of Grand and Slack Street when a white vehicle pulled up next to her and the driver asked her if she was OK. The driver got out of the vehicle and grabbed the victim by the arm pulling her towards his vehicle. While the suspect had a hold of the victim he kissed her on the neck.”

Like several other victims of similar assaults, this one fought back. “The victim broke free from the suspect and ran away.”

The victim gave police a description of a Hispanic male in his early 20s, Sgt. Villanti said, with short black hair and an earring in his left ear. The suspect’s vehicle was described as being either a Honda or Mazda sedan.

The San Luis Obispo Police Department is asking the public to report any similar situations or any information that would assist this investigation.

Several years ago, several similar case happened in that general area, as well as over on Foothill Boulevard, wherein a female student was accosted by a man who in some of the cases, tried to rape the victims, right out in the open on the sidewalk or in nearby bushes. Some cases, the perpetrator stuck his hands in the womens’ clothing
