10,000 Meals to be Packaged to help combat Global Hunger

Brazil-Sao-Paulo-Rotary-International-Convention-June-2015-11-500x375Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo is teaming up with Stop Hunger Now to host its first meal packaging event. A team of 40 to 50 volunteers will package just over 10,000 meals in about two hours on Saturday February 6th.

Meal packages are a combination of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix that includes 23 essential vitamins and minerals into small meal packages. The meals are shipped throughout the world to support school feeding programs, orphanages, and crisis relief. The food is stored easily, transported quickly, and has a shelf-life of two years. Each meal costs only $0.29 cents be packaged & shipped!

Stop Hunger Now distributes meals through feeding programs operated by partner organizations in developing countries that promote education, encourage children to attend school, improve students’ health and nutrition, address gender inequalities, stimulate economic growth, fight child labor, and are part of the movement to address global issues.
