5 Tips to Improve Your Home For Less Than $500

Spending a lot of money to improve your home is not always feasible.  Homeowners often find a challenge to put money aside for that anticipated remodel because «life» continually gets in the way.
Here are some things, however, that will make your home more lovely and also help you to possibly save more towards the big remodel you hope to do someday.

Enhance Your Curb Appeal
Start at the curb and pull weeds in the driveway, clean up flower beds and trim bushes.
You can do all of this and replace that old worn out mailbox all for under $500.

Spruce Up The Entry
You may not be able to afford a new door but you can give the one you have a fresh coat of paint, update the outside light fixture to something fresh, buy a new doormat and even put out a new pot of flowers all for under $500.

Paint Your Interior Walls
One of my favorite sayings is that paint is worth $10 in the can and $1000 on the wall.
Nothing changes the overall look of a room more than a fresh coat of paint. If you do the work yourself, you may even be able to upgrade your baseboards and add crown molding and stay within your budget.

Lighting Fixtures
Nothing shouts old and boring like old light fixtures.  You can find affordable and attractive light fixtures at many stores nowadays.  If this project exceeds your budget of $500, consider changing out the light shades on some of your table lamps for a fresh new look.

Bathroom Upgrade
For well under $200, you can install a new toilet that may save you thousands of gallons of water over time.  With the money left over, you can upgrade the lighting fixture, storage cabinet and/or mirror.
My advice is don’t give up because you can’t do the big remodel now.  My hope is that some of these tips will help you to fall in love with your home again or at least allow you to enjoy it more this year.  As always, call or text me with any specific questions you may have.
