Arroyo Grande High School senior, Leza Cassidy, finished second in the girls’ varsity race at the Sept. 12 Morro Bay High School Invitational Cross Country Meet, clocking 19-minutes and 15-seconds. Race winner was junior, Christina E Rice of Dos Pueblos H.S. (19:05).
AGHS is expected to be a contender for the PAC-5 League this season but the Morro Bay course is one of the toughest, early challenges in a long, busy season of races. San Luis Obispo High’s girls’ varsity saw all five of their top runners finish within the Top 20 at Morro Bay.
Junior, Rosa Granados was AG’s next finisher in 31st place in the 134-runner race. She clocked 21:37 and was just 2 seconds ahead of her teammate, sophomore Katie Howell (32nd, 21:39).
Fourth for AGHS was junior, Cristal Aguirre (71st, 23:20), and fifth for A.G. was freshman, Haley Woods (84th, 24:01). AGHS didn’t enter the boys’ varsity race nor the boys’ and girls’ JV races.
