Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Cambria man on suspicion of committing a lewd act involving restrooms and tourists.

According to Sheriff’s spokesman, Tony Cipolla, at about 9:30 p.m. back on June 9, two female tourists were walking in a parking lot in the 4000 block of Burton Dr., when they were approached by a man dressed in a white shirt, white hat and white painter’s pants.

“As they approached the motel where they were staying,” Cipolla said, “the women say the man approached them with his pants unzipped, exposing his genitals.” Deputies searched the area but didn’t find the alleged flasher.

More than a month later, at 12:20 p.m. on July 29, it happened again. “Deputies responded to a report of an indecent exposure incident which had just occurred at a public restroom in the 800 block of Hillcrest Dr.,” Cipolla said. “The female victim reported a man had walked into the women’s restroom and exposed himself to her and then fled after the woman began yelling.”

This masher too was dressed in white, “painter’s clothes.”

Deputies, with help from a State Parks ranger, searched the area and located a man matching the suspect’s description, “running from the area.” The smoking gun piece of evidence was apparent.

“As deputies were in the process of detaining the suspect,” Cipolla said, “they noticed the suspect’s pants unzipped with his genitals exposed.”

The man, identified as Courtney Luther Miles, 48 of Cambria, was arrested for a parole violation and suspicion of indecent exposure.

Cipolla said investigators are interested in any information regarding the cases or any unreported cases that might have occurred. Call Sheriff’s Det. Nisse at 781-4849.
