Alleged Car Burglars Busted

Two Arroyo Grande men were arrested for allegedly stealing items out of a parked car in San Luis Obispo and using stolen credit cards in two stores.

According to SLOPD Sgt. Jeff Booth, on June 18 officers took a cold report of a vehicle burglary in the 200 block of California Blvd., wherein $1,200 in jewelry, makeup, luggage, purses, sunglasses and a credit card, among other items, were stolen out of the victim’s unlocked car.

On June 20, Sgt. Booth said, officers got video surveillance footage from one of the stores where the stolen credit card had been used. That footage was posted on SLOPD’s Facebook, Nextdoor and Twitter pages and the case broke open quickly.

“Several people identified the two suspects including an officer from the Pismo Police Department,” said Sgt. Booth.

At about 4 p.m. June 20, Sgt. Booth said their two suspects were pulled over by Arroyo Grande Police near Oakpark Boulevard and Branch Street. SLOPD detectives responded to the scene and arrested them both.

Kyle Brown, 22 of A.G., was charged with suspicion of possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property, and fraudulent use of a credit card. His bail was set at $4,000.

Nathan Morgan, 28 also of A.G., was charged with suspicion of possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property, credit card fruad, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of suspected heroin. His bail was set at $12,000.

Sgt. Booth said they were only able to recover the sunglasses and that was the basis for their possession of stolen property charges.
