Cambria Walkway Job Started

School children and walkers in Cambria will have a safer way to get to school after the County finishes building a new walkway to Santa Lucia Middle School.

The County is using a $45,800 grant from the Urban State Highway Account and awarded through the Council of Governments, to install the paved walkway along Eton Road from Burton Drive to Schoolhouse Lane. R. Burke Const., of SLO is the contractor.

The walkway will be done under the “Safe Route to School” program, and the new walkway will be separated from traffic. Work was set to begin mid-June and continue for about a month, according to a County Public Works news release.

During construction, drivers can expect lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with delays up to 10 minutes.
