Free Documentary Screening Aug. 10 in SLO

The San Luis Obispo Downtown Association will screen, “Urban Century: America’s Return to Main Street,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the Fremont Theater on Monterey Street in SLO.

This is a feature length documentary that explores what draws people to downtown, the economic impact of a vibrant downtown and the environmental benefits of building housing in urban centers. Doors open at 6.

Free admission with movie concessions, adult beverages from Chamisal Vineyards and Firestone Walker Brewing available for purchase with proceeds helping to pay for the movie.

After the film, a panel will discuss the economic importance of downtowns in America’s cities and towns. The panelists will include Aaron Gomez, owner of The Gold Concept; Christine Theodoropoulos, dean of the Cal Poly College of Architecture and Environmental Design; SLO Assistant City Manager Derek Johnson; and architect Mark Rawson of Copeland Properties.
