Jim’s, ABA, Cambria Rock, Legendz Win Softball Crowns

The results are in on the 2016 Morro Bay Rec Department’s Summer softball league, and after a season of hard-fought wins and tough losses, when the dust settled on some furious play in the end of season tournaments, four teams were crowned Champions.

In the Upper Division Co-ed play, Jim’s Automotive faced Dead Tacos in the tournament besting the Chalupas 11-10 on Katie Howard’s two RBI and Marissa Saucedo’s one. Jim’s faced the Jolly Rogers for the championship and took the title in an 18-13 slugfest.

In Co-ed Lower Division play, ABA took a close one over Caucasian Debris 16-14 as Rochelle LaPan erupted with 5 RBI, Erin Gates drove in two, and Vicky Garagliano and Beth Elmerick each had 1 RBI. For Caucasian Debris, Bridgette Howard and Julie White each had 2 RBI, and Jennifer White chased home another run.
In the championship game, ABA had no love for No Glove No Love in a 19-13 win. Kevin Shepard touched ‘em all with an inside-the-park homerun, Erica Maluski and Vicky Garagliano each had 3 RBI, LaPan 2 RBI, and Christina Scholars drove in one. No Glove No Love’s Tyler Stornetta hit two homeruns and Gillian Burdge had an RBI, too.

In the Master’s Division, Cambria Rock got busy in a 15-4 win over Bearly Movin’ to advance to the championship. Jon Pitts homered for Cambria. In the other semifinal game, Half Cents had the answer to Question Marks 15-9 despite Sean Kennedy’s homerun for the Q’s. In the championship game, Cambria Rock made change of Half Cents 13-9 as Pitts went long twice for the Rocksters and Bill Vale added a homer too.

In the Men’s Division, WUBPA AAA, in an obvious pitcher’s duel, prevailed 28-26 over Pays to Play. The AAAs’ Danny Woodman had a hat trick of home runs (that’s three), Cole Stevenson and Brian Wiggins each homered twice and Collin Douglass, Joe Klmnyzk and Cru Reaber homered as well, though they only hit one apiece.

For Pays to Play, Dylan Braiden, Kyle Rowe and Brett Ash hit two homeruns each, Hans Guy, James Prange and Pat Haugen each hit one, too.

In the other semi, Parking Lot Champs got paved by Legendz 31-11 as Anson Shaffer homered twice, Russ Ramos, David Apple, Alex Powles and Logan Budd each went deep one time for Legendz. PLC’s Casey Nagler and Nick Balentine homered.

In the championship game, Legendz outlasted WUBPA AAA 26-20 to win the title, as Apple homered twice, and Powles, Budd, and Shaffer homered as well. For the AAA’s, Woodman, Klmnyzk, Cody Brindley and Lance Reaber homered.
