Jubilee by the Sea October 22-25

Jazz lovers are in for a musical treat Oct. 22-25 during the 39th Annual Jubilee by the Sea. The event features four full days with 5 venues, 131 one-hour performances, 13 guest artists and over 20 groups. Performers include Tom Hook and his Terriers from New Orleans, Cornet Chop Suey from St. Louis, Red Skunk Band from California and New Orleans, Blue Street Jazz Band from California and New Orleans and many more.

There will be a special Oktoberfest Celebration on Thursday with local favorite The Mudskippers at the Addie Street Tent on the beach. It s tarts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20. Also at 6 p.m. at the Vet’s Hall, Bob Draga will lead the hottest jazz quartet on the West Coast. Tickets are $25.

Jubilee runs Thursday through Sunday, October 22 – 25. All event badges are $100, day passes range from $40 to $50. Saturday Night Swing Dance featuring dancing to five different bands including Riptide, Royal Garden Swing, Scala’s Rhythm Jesters and Red Skunk with Molly Reeves. At St. Anthony’s Starts at 4:30 – 10:30 and costs $20.

The event is organized and operated solely by volunteers with revenue from the festival going to fund the Basin Street Regulars Jazz Club’s monthly Sunday Sessions as well as extensive youth programs. Over the last 40 years, the group has provided scholarships for more than 300 students to attend jazz camp. Several of their sponsored youths are featured in the Jubilee including Justin Au, Molly Reeves and Sam Boorman from Red Skunk Band.
