Morro Bay High ‘s Homecoming was spoiled somewhat, as the 3-1 Pirates suffered their first loss on the season, 34-14 to Cabrillo High. The Pirates got scores from senior quarterback, Danny Koval, and senior receiver, Josh Skiffington, who caught a halfback pass from Spencer Cecil for a 60-yard TD. But the Pirates didn’t have enough in the tank to overcome a quick, early lead by the Conquistadores. At halftime, the students celebrated their annual Homecoming Parade, complete with class floats and several young ladies and gentlemen vying for the honor of king and queen. Ellis Fryer was named Homecoming Queen and Cecil, who rushed out of the locker room to participate, was named king. The Pirates travel to Santa Ynez this week and host Mission Prep on Friday, Oct. 14.
