One Hell of a Metal Show at Vina Robles

To say the least, it was a hell of a show at Vina Robles Amphitheater on August 8! Three bands that could have each been headliners brought an extreme metal show to Paso Robles. The house was packed. These three legendary bands gave the crowd exactly what they came for.

Behemoth (photo bottom, left and right) opened the show. They played a couple of songs from The Satanist, like “Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer” and “Messe Noire,” but they mixed up the set list to include more of their greatest hits, which pleased all Behemoth fans, such as “Conquer All,” “Ov Fire and the Void” and, of course, the masterful “Chant for Eschaton 2000,” which they closed their set with.

The fans were in extreme anticipation of the next act, chanting “Lamb Of God” over and over during the intermission.  And. they were not disappointed.  Lamb Of God (photo, bottom center) absolutely killed it!

A steady wave of crowd surfers with a level of activity in the crowd rarely seen exploded as the band tore into fan favorites such as “Walk With Me In Hell,” “Ruin,” “Something To Die For,” and “Omerta.”

Next came the headliners, Slayer (photo, top 3). You could feel the adrenaline rush as you watch Slayer killing it on stage with Gary Holt and Kerry King shredding, Tom Araya on vocals, and Paul Bostaph on the drums. Slayer gave crowd an amazing metal show performing “Raining Blood,” “Angel of Death,” and “Chemical Warfare” among others.

All in all, this was one of the best metal mash-ups to ever come to the Central Coast! We hope there is more to come because the house was packed to the rim from start to finish, and everyone left Vina Robles thirsting for more!
