OPINION: Stop Mandatory Vaccinations

By Nicole Dorfman ~

The State of California recently passed Senate Bill SB277, which takes away a parent’s right to follow their own religious and personal beliefs when it comes to determining medical treatment for their children.

The medical treatment in question is the current vaccination regime that starts at birth and continues throughout childhood and adolescence. Missing even one of the 33 mandated doses would result in a child being expelled from public or private school, from daycare up through high school.

Opponents of this bill are collecting signatures for a referendum to put the matter on the ballot before California voters in November 2016. Here are 10 reasons to sign this referendum today:

1. 200,000 children will be kicked out of public and private school, or be unable to enroll at all if SB277 stands.
2. The law eviscerates a parent’s Constitutional Right to make fully informed, non-coerced health and medical decisions for their children. The government must not mandate medical treatment. It is a parent’s Constitutional Right to make these decisions for their children unless they are otherwise proven unfit.
3. SB277 codifies a system of medical discrimination in our schools and uses public school resources to police and enforce a state mandated medical regime.
4. California children have a constitutional right to a public education.
5. This law forces private businesses to discriminate against children based on medical status. Private schools will now also be agents of the government: forced to monitor and police families for vaccination compliance. Private (and religious) schools must expel students who are missing even one of the 33 required doses.
6. Outbreaks of vaccinatable diseases in CA schools are virtually non-existent.
7. This is because current policy is incredibly successful, as 97% of California parents vaccinate willingly and voluntarily.
8. Vaccine manufacturers have legal exemption from all liability for injury and death due to vaccinations. Yet the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, established by the Federal Government in 1988 to compensate victims of such injury, has paid out over $3.5 billion of your tax dollars to settle claims.
9. The vaccine schedule has increased dramatically over the past 30 years. In 1983, 24 doses were recommended for children from birth to 18 years. Next year 69 doses will be recommended. Currently 29 doses are required for kindergarten entry. In addition, SB277 states that the government can require, at any time, vaccines for “any other disease deemed appropriate.”
10. Vaccines are a multi-billion dollar industry. Certain mandated vaccines, such as that for measles (MMR) and chickenpox (Varicella) come from a sole manufacturer, Merck.

The State is requiring all school-age children to consume various products from this single manufacturer, without liability or price controls; despite the fact that Merck has previous defrauded the Federal Government and the Veteran’s Administration, as well as a multitude of private citizens.

Merck is also currently under criminal investigation for charges related to the safety and efficacy of its vaccines.

If the referendum passes, State law would return to what it is currently — allowing for a personal belief/religious exemption to vaccination requirements, signed-off on by a physician who has explained the risks and benefits of vaccination.
