Police Seek ID Thief

San Luis Obispo Police are looking for a woman who stole a wallet and then liberated $20,000 from the victim’s bank accounts.

SLOPD Sgt. Chad Pfarr said on June 21 they received a report from a SLO resident of a stolen wallet. “The victim had several financial account numbers,” Sgt. Pfarr said, “credit/debit cards, personal information and identification cards in the wallet.”

The next day the thief struck in earnest. “On June 22,” Sgt. Pfarr said, “an unknown elderly suspect used the victim’s personal and financial information to make two, separate, $10,000 withdrawals from two different banks in San Luis Obispo.

“The unknown suspect successfully impersonated the victim and fraudulently obtained a total of $20,000 dollars.”

The suspect, who was captured on surveillance video, is described as white, possibly female, about 5-feet 3-inches tall, and 140 pounds. “She” is approximately 65-years old, Sgt. Pfarr said.

“The Police Department is looking for assistance in identifying the suspect in this crime.” If readers have any information that could help identify the suspect, contact SLOPD Ofc. Lozano at (805) 781- 7312 or Crime Stoppers at (805) 549-STOP.
