Register Now for City to Sea

Registration is being taken now for Cuesta College’s 22nd Annual “City to the Sea Half Marathon and 5K” set for Oct. 8. Registration is $35 for the 5K and $80 for the half marathon. Sign up on line at: www.citytothesea.org.
The race this year will benefit a project to put new stands at Cuesta’s track and field stadium, where the county high school and Special Olympics track meets are also held. The stands are estimated to cost some $300,000. “Building permanent bleachers has been a dream for our students and faculty for years, and our goal now is to make it a reality,” said race director and retired Cuesta kinesiology instructor, Jani Johnson.
Some 2,500 runners are expected for the race, which starts in Downtown San Luis Obispo and ends at Dinosaur Park in Pismo Beach. Over the years, the monies raised have supported the school’s track and cross country teams, including building the Fairbanks Cross Country course.
