The fastest runners came home in clusters about 20 minutes after leaving Mitchell Park for the Railroad Recreation and Safety Trail and back for some hot breakfast.

While “Santa” greeted all the runners at the finish line, he gave special attention to some of his “elves” and one of his favorite reindeer, who ran the 5K in full regalia. Of course children completing their first event from the comfort of a stroller were delighted to see him as well.

The Food Bank Coalition of SLO County had a booth at the event and welcomed donations. A portion of the event’s proceeds are slated for donation to the organization, that serving over 44,000 residents in SLO County at risk of “food insecurity.”
