San Luis Obispo Heart & Stroke Walk

Nearly 600 people from San Luis Obispo and nearby cities are expected to participate in the San Luis Obispo Heart & Stroke Walk, sponsored locally by Dignity Health Central Coast, Sports Warehouse, Coastal Cardiology, Rabobank, Chevron, Pacific Western Bank and Wells Fargo. The 5K walk encourages healthy habits while raising funds to support the AHA’s research and education efforts to fight heart disease and stroke – the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers.  As the number one cause of death in our nation, heart disease is also the No. 1 killer in SLO. Apart from the walk, the event features a health expo, educational booths, kid’s zone, refreshments and snacks. The event takes place Sept. 16 at the Avila Beach Promenade and continues on the Bob Jones Trail.  Registration is at 9 a.m. and walk/run begins at 10 a.m. To register for free, donate funds before or after the event, or for more information, visit www.SLOHeartWalk.com
