Student Artwork Unveiled

BN Cay MuralThe Cayucos Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center recently acquired a very special piece of artwork. Since opening its doors on July 3, 2013, said Jan Romanazzi of the Visitor’s Center, the Center has reserved one wall to someday display the Chamber’s logo.
There were discussions about contacting local muralist, photographers and looking into digital processes, she said. Months passed and nothing really clicked.
Then they contacted Cayucos Elementary School. “I spoke with Eric Schofield, the school’s Art Teacher,” Romanazzi said, “about the idea and asked if students in his middle school elective art class might be interested? As it turned out, three of his students took on the project — no small task as the end result is an eye catching 4-foot by 4-foot painting of our logo.”
The painting now prominently resides on its intended wall and Romanazzi said they invite everyone to visit the Center and checkout this fine Cayucos student work. The Cayucos Visitor’s Center is located at 41 S. Ocean Ave., and open Fridays-Mondays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 995-1200 for more information.
