Transient Man Arrested in Stabbing

SLOCN Allen ADW AR MUGSan Luis Obispo Police arrested one transient man for allegedly stabbing another man with a knife in what police say was an unprovoked attack.
According to Sgt. Brian Amoroso, at about 1:09 a.m. police responded to the intersection of Broad and Industrial Way for a report of a stabbing. Sgt. Amoroso said officers found one man down with a puncture wound to the stomach. The 61-year-old victim was reportedly acquaintances with the suspect.
“According to the victim and a witness, the attack was unprovoked and came without warning,” said Sgt. Amoroso. The two gave police the siuspect’s name and description and the victim was taken to Sierra Vista Hospital and admitted for treatment.
Police searched the area and soon found the suspect, identified as Daniel Allen, 43, a local transient at the nearby Edna Valley Shell Station (corner of Broad and Tank Farm) and arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $25,000.
Capt. Chad Pfarr said none of the men were drunk, and Allen would not provide a statement or explanation as to why he allegedly attacked the victim.
