Voter Deadline Monday

If you’re planning to vote in the June Primary Election but haven’t yet registered to vote, you have until midnight Monday to do so.

SLO County Clerk-Recorder Tommy Gong said, “Voter registrations must be postmarked or received in the County Clerk-Recorder’s office by May 23 for voters to be eligible to vote on June 7. Voters can also use the California online voter registration system available at: www.slovote.com to register to vote up until midnight on May 23.”

Voters who have moved or want to change political parties must complete a new voter registration card. “Any voter registering by this deadline,” Gong said, “will receive a postcard with their polling place location. They will not receive the sample ballot booklet issued by the County or the State Voter Guide. However, both of these publications are available on the respective websites: www.slovote.com and www.sos.ca.gov.”

Paper forms available at Post Offices, City Halls, public libraries, notary offices, utility company offices, the DMV and Clerk-Recorder’s offices in SLO and Atascadero. There is an after-hours drop-off slot outside the County Government Center on 1055 Monterey St., SLO.

To legally vote a person must be a U.S. citizen; at least 18-years old on or before Election Day; and not be either in prison or on parole for a felony conviction. Call the Clerk-Recorder’s Elections Office at 781-5228.
