Workshop Slated on Morro Bay Planning Work

donnas-728x90_general

There will be a downtown/waterfront strategic plan public workshop from 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 at the Morro Bay Vet’s Hall, 209 Surf St.

The public will be asked for feedback and input on the planning being done by consultants, RRM Design.

So far the work has produced a controversial major re-thinking of the Centennial Parkway that stretches from Market Avenue down to the Morro Bay Boulevard street end and a public pier next to Rose’s Landing.

RRM produced a “menu” of potential items to be considered if and when the time comes for a redevelopment of the Distassio’s Restaurant building, which the City owns but is hoping to have someone come in and re-develop.

The idea is to have whoever takes on the re-development — the City’s preference is as a motel — rebuild the parkway (where the Giant Chessboard is located) as part of its project.
