Guide Dogs for the Blind Nose Best – Puppies (just like fitness) Make People Happy

GDB puppy

Did you know fitness activities and puppy interactions are both known to boost your endorphin levels?

Nobody “nose” this better than Guide Dogs for the Blind whose puppies provide pure joy to their trainers, owners, and passerbys. Same goes for runners or fitness buffs addicted to that “runner’s high.”

GH Sports is offering a double dose of happy by hosting a Puppy Party at its 3rd Annual Blowout Sale event on Saturday, September 26 from 9am to 6pm; the party will benefit Guide Dogs for the Blind.

“Puppies, just like fitness activities, encourage us to be in the moment. This year’s event is going to be all about having fun – with Guide Dogs for the Blind puppies on site and sales on every single item in our store. There will be additional vendor booths and some surprises along the way,” explains Garrett Long, General Manager, GH Sports.

Central Coast Guide Dog Puppy Raisers are volunteering their time to bring their puppies (currently in training to be Guide Dogs) out and about for the public to play with, learn from, and party with. Puppy Raisers receive their puppies at approximately eight weeks old, and he/she returns to the Guide Dogs Headquarters for formal training between 13 and 15 months old. Puppy raisers are responsible for teaching their puppies good manners and basic obedience.

While the puppies nap or get distracted by passing butterflies, you can get inspired to be active. On this one day each year, everything in the store (boasting an open retail floor with running, cycling, swimming, triathlon and fitness apparel MADE IN SLO and accessories) has sales tags of at least 20% off.

The event was reinvigorated from the company’s HIND Performance days (the brand name the company formally did business under) when they held an annual sidewalk sale. “We started the event again in 2013 to pay tribute to our traditions and to celebrate health and happiness,” explains Long.

Support the Guide Dog Puppies in changing lives by learning about the good work they do, becoming a puppy trainer, puppy sitter, or friend, or adopting a career change dog. Stop by the Party at GH Sports, 3765 S. Higuera Street, Suite 100 in San Luis Obispo on Saturday, September 26th from 9am to 6pm (puppies available to play from 10am – 4pm). Call (805) 541-6019 with questions.
