Caltrans’ so-called “Elephant Trunk Project” to construct a retaining wall on Hwy 1 in Northern San Luis Obispo/Southern Monterey Counties continues with overnight road closures Sunday nights through Friday mornings from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. between Gorda and Ragged Point, now through some time in November.
It will be open on Friday and Saturday nights. If readers are planning to travel up Hwy 1, plan accordingly.
The retaining wall will fix a spot in the roadway subject to land slippage and sinking. All local businesses along the coast will remain open during the roadwork.
