Oysters and High Fashion at 2015 Harbor Festival

Two of the most popular events at the Annual Morro Bay Harbor Festival are Giovanni’s Fish Market’s ‘Down the Hatch’ Oyster Eating Contest, hosted by Gio DeGarimore.

This year, saw a repeat win by a lady from the Valley, (sorry, we didn’t catch her name), who scarfed down more than 40 oysters in 60 seconds!

The other fun event is The Bay News-Aloha Shirt Shop’s ‘Hawaiian IMG_0672Shirt Contest’ hosted by Bay News Managing Editor, Neil Farrell. This marked the 20th year Farrell has hosted the Contest, which was started by former, 4-time Mayor, the late-Bill Yates.

Armand Boyer of Cayucos was the Grand Prize winner this year, and will have his name put onto the ‘Bill Yates’ perpetual trophy.
