Two of some 100 cyclists pose for a photo Oct. 19, during United Healthcare’s Ride 2 Recovery California Challenge, which rolled through San Luis Obispo County on Oct. 18-20.
The riders were injured veterans raising money for Ride 2 Recovery, which provides physical and psychological rehabilitation programs for injured veterans, with cycling as its core activity.
Ride 2 recovery started the 7-day trek in Sunnyvale and journeyed some 500 miles to West Los Angeles, stopping overnight in San Simeon on Oct. 18, before heading down Hwy 1 to Pismo Beach.
The procession passed by local elementary, middle and high schools (with a rest stop at Morro Bay High), where students came out to cheer them on.
The group, on Oct. 19, declared that day’s ride as, “Women’s Day,” honoring the 20 female veterans who took part in the ride. See: ride2recovery.com for more information. Photo by Neil Farrell
