SLO Holiday Parade is Dec. 1

The 42nd Annual Holiday Parade will bring a “Holiday Hoedown” theme to Downtown San Luis Obispo starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 and the whole community is invited to celebrate one of SLO’s most beloved holiday traditions.

Sponsored by the Downtown SLO Association, the parade will have Bob Douglas (above),  owner of SLO Luggage, as the parade marshal. The parade features bright floats, festive marching bands, classic carolers, skateboarding elves, and Santa himself.

The parade route starts on Chorro at Palm streets and marches down Higuera to Nipomo. The parade is the largest on the Central Coast and attracts upwards of 10,000 spectators, so it might be best to go early to find parking. And dress for the weather, December nights in SLO can be chilly.

Prizes are awarded for Best in Theme, Most Creative, and Most Entertaining. Eleven parade announcers will be stationed along the 9-block parade route and the event is free, open to all and family-friendly. See the website at: www.DowntownSLO.com for more information.
