South Bay-Hwy 1 to be Closed

banner_roadWorkAheadMorro Bay’s annual street work will soon become a major pain for folks traversing back and forth between Los Osos and Morro Bay.
Sousa Const., the City’s contractor for the more than $1.5 million worth of work citywide, will be fixing the roadway on South Bay Boulevard between Quintana Road and Hwy 1 starting Feb. 9 and lasting through Feb. 27, the City announced. The short stretch of roadway will have to be closed to traffic so Sousa can rip up the old pavement, and reconstruct the road from its base on up. Under the current schedule:
• From Feb. 9-27 (Full-time) South Bay Boulevard will be closed from Quintana to Teresa Drive. Northbound Hwy 1 on/off ramps will be open only to access Teresa Drive and Casa De Flores. Both the on and off southbound ramps will be closed.
Tentative Feb. 18-19 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. — night work on the intersection of South Bay and Quintana, and South Bay and the Northbound Hwy 1 on and off ramps.
All traffic controls, detours and routing — approved by Caltrans — will be in effect, so motorists should follow the signs and the instructions of flagmen. If readers have any questions, email City capital projects manager, Rick Sauerwein at: .
