The Grover Beach Parks and Recreation Department will welcome Alpha Winds, a youth jazz and concert band who will perform a free outdoor concert in Grover Beach on Friday, July 10 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Ramona Garden Park. The band is from Orange County, California and they will be on their first road trip. They’ll be traveling and performing in several California cities, including; Soledad, Pacific Grove, Monterey, Morro Bay and Grover Beach. The band was formed in 2000 and the members range in age from 10 to 19 years; and all of them are home schooled. They’ll perform a medley of jazz standards including “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing),” “Sing, Sing, Sing,” and a selection of old hits from Ray Charles and Van Morrison. The Magnum Choir will perform several Broadway pieces, as well. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and give these up and coming young musicians a wonderful Central Coast welcome. G Burns Jug BandThe G Burns Jug Band will headline the next Red Barn Community Concert Series in Los Osos, set for 6 p.m. Saturday, July 11. Cost is a $15 donation at the door and all proceeds go to the artists. Doors open at 4:30 and there’s a potluck supper at 5 with the potluck band. Bring a dish to share, place settings and BYOB. The show is held in the South Bay Community Park on Palisades Avenue. San Diego-based, G Burns Jug Band, plays oldtime American music — urban blues, mountain fiddle, and popular music of the 1920s and ‘30s. Since forming in 2012, the Burns’ have quickly become a constant presence in the Southern California music scene and has been the house band at Black Cat Bar since August 2013. In May 2014, they released a debut, self-titled CD and toured the West Coast with Jim Kweskin, Del McCoury, Beausoleil, Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band, The Americans and The Earl Brothers. The Pewter Plough Playhouse presents Neil Simon’s semi-autobiographical comedy “Chapter Two,” weekends now through Aug. 9. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays. The Arroyo Grande Village Summer Concert Series continues with performance on Sunday, July 19 with 60’s rock ‘n’ roll dance favorites Unfinished Business. Join your friends at 1p.m. at the Rotary Bandstand in the Village of Arroyo Grande for this Unfinished Businessexciting free show. Activities during the day will spotlight the concert sponsor Talley Farms Fresh Harvest and the featured nonprofit focus will be on the Kiwanis Centennial Playground Project. Unfinished Business is a Central Coast based band formed in 2003 and specializing in what is arguably the best music of all time: 1960s rock ‘n’ roll. Think Beatles, Rolling Stones, British invasion, the Beach Boys, Motown, and Woodstock, and that will give you an idea of some of the great music Unfinished Business performs. The original members  — David Hollister on drums, Jim Witt bass and vocals, Ben Davis rhythm guitar and vocals, and Ed Miller lead guitar and vocals — all played in different local bands in California during the 1960s, but they eventually set their music careers aside to pursue “real jobs” and raise families.

The 12th Annual Sizzlin’ Summer Concert Series continues Sunday, July 19 with Soul Sauce performing rock, soul, reggae, and blues. The free concert series runs from 3-6 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 23 in Ramona Garden Park in conjunction with the Grover Beach Farmer’s Market. Shop for fresh fruits and vegetables, kick back on the grass, enjoy a glass of wine or beer, dance, or just listen to the great music. Bring blankets or chairs. For more information, call 473- 4580.

Get ready to laugh all night at the Clark Center in Arroyo Grande on July 11 at 7 p.m. during the celebration of a TV favorite. 8 Decades of Smiles with Peter Funt features the funniest Candid Camera scenes plus Peter Funt’s comedic take on human nature. The New York Times declared, “it’s good-natured and hostility-free” and, the show benefits the non-profit Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County. South County Historical Society’s fifth season of Summer Historic Theatre is underway with a Reader’s Theatre production of The Dunites: Mystics — Misfits — More. Meet the Dunites, people who lived an alternative lifestyle in the Oceano Dunes for decades. From artists to people on the run, the colorful Dunite stories continue to hold us spellbound. Meet them for the first time or learn fascinating details you might not know. Performances of the one-hour shows begin at 2 p.m. every Saturday through July 25 at the I.O.O.F. Hall, 128 Bridge St., in Arroyo Grande. The show is free. Doors open at 1:30.
