Cuesta Does Well at Rodeo Nationals

Cuesta College’s Rodeo Club wrangled some high finishes at the College National Finals Rodeo competition in Casper, Wyo., with the team placing 19th in the nation.

Aaron Williams was eighth in bull riding and won the second “go-around.”

Lane Lowrey took fourth place in the team roping-heading competition, and Will Centoni landed at 15th in the saddle bronc riding.

“We are extremely proud of our Cuesta Cougars,” said Rodeo Club Coach Clint Pearce. “This was only our second year and it was great just qualifying for the National Finals. Our athletes competed very well and stood up to the best College Rodeo competition in the country. We’re proud of our finish and looking forward to being even more competitive next year.”

A total of six Cuesta students qualified for Nationals, after they finished fifth at a regional rodeo held in Las Vegas. The athletes were: Jake Gardner (bull riding); Tristan Ruffoni (team roping-heading), Dalton Pearce (team roping heeling) as well as Centoni, Lowry, and Williams.
