Is it Fraud?!!

Each year, the IRS investigates different tax scams, dubbing them the “Dirty Dozen”.  The complete list of these scams can be found online at www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Completes-the-Dirty-Dozen-Tax-Scams-for-2015. Making the top of the list for 2015 are Email Phishing and Aggressive Telephone Scams.
The IRS created Electronic Service (E-Services). While convenient, it has come with some drawbacks, such as Phishing Scam Emails.  Emails have been sent by scammers to Taxpayers and Tax Preparers, “Phishing” for personal information.  The IRS will never send emails that include a link; if you receive an email such as this, do not respond. The IRS recommends you forward it to [email protected], then delete the email.
Phone Scams are nothing new, but made the top of the list.  Some taxpayers have received calls with threats of arrest, deportation, lawsuit etc., if they do not pay immediately.  The IRS will NOT make these kinds of phone calls, nor will they demand credit card information or specify the type of payment they will accept.
Do not become a victim of these scams.  If you are concerned about any contact you have received from the IRS, our office would be happy to assist you.
