Hey, Waldo! That’s the name given this baby harbor seal that was photographed Sept. 23 hanging around with the sea lions on the floating dock in Morro Bay Harbor. Seeing a harbor seal on the sea lion dock is rather odd, though a State Fish & Wildlife official commented that recently, there have been a number of harbor seals hauling out at Sandal’s Cove, not far from where Waldo was photographed. Normally, the extremely shy harbor seals haul out in the Back Bay out in the estuary. The Marine Mammal Center checked out Waldo for us. Director, Diana Kramer, said his weight and behavior seemed good, though he was drooling a bit in the pictures, and he’s got no visible injuries or other signs of distress. ‘So it appears at this point,’ Kramer said, ‘he was just hanging out with the sea lions!’
