Local birding expert, Jim Royer, will lead the next SWAP Nature Walk in the Elfin Forest set for 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. The special event is a precursor to SWAP’s participation in the Big Sit, Birdwatcher’s Digest’s annual bird count slated for Sunday, Oct. 9 (see: www.birdwatchersdigest.com). Join Royer to look for and identify 60 or more species of birds in the Elfin Forest and Morro Bay Estuary. Meet at the north end of 15th Street off of Santa Ysabel in Los Osos. Wear comfortable shoes, long sleeves and pants to avoid poison oak and mosquitoes. Park avoiding driveways and mailboxes and leave pets at home. The easy paced walk will last an hour.
