Annual Morro Bay Cross Country Meet set for Saturday

The Annual Morro Bay Invitational Cross Country Meet is set for this Saturday, Sept. 12 at Morro Bay High School.

Races start at 10 a.m. with varsity girls and finish up about 2 p.m.

The girls’ varsity race should be exceptionally good this year. Some of the schools attending this year include:

  • Bell-Jeff,
  • Centennial,
  • Central High,
  • Central Valley Christian,
  • Coast Union,
  • Dos Pueblos,
  • Foothill Technology,
  • Garces,
  • Long Beach Milliken,
  • Nipomo,
  • Orcutt Academy,
  • Paso Robles,
  • Pioneer Valley,
  • Righetti,
  • San Luis Obispo,
  • SLO Classical Academy,
  • Santa Ynez,
  • South Bakersfield,
  • and Templeton.

The novice boys’ race starts at 10 a.m., varsity girls at 10:30, varsity boys at 11, JV girls at 11:30, and JV boys at noon.

Morro Bay will have about 10 girls in the JV race, said Coach Chuck Ogle. Freshman Audrey McClish will lead that pack. “Young team,” said Ogle. Also, the AGHS varsity girls’ team is one of the best in the state in its division, he added.

Senior Hannah Buechner will lead the varsity girls and senior Andrew Stafford “will be in the front pack of the varsity boys’ race,” said Ogle.
